THE HAZZARDS OF THE HAZZARD!! We have thoroughly hashed and rehashed the pleasantries and difficulties of this grant sponsored by our chapter through the Mu Phi Foundation. It was put to a vote with polling over the internet and by mail excepted for those who couldn’t come to the meeting. I personally thank you for your response. We had 21 members voting out of 46 eligible members. The vote was 16 to 15 in favor of the Foundation granting the Brenna Hazzard Scholarship in any amount they so choose depending upon the interest earned on the original gift (untouchable) of $100,000.00. It was obviously not unanimous by any means, but there it is. The Foundation will be notified of the vote, shortly.

FOR THE FIRST TIME: The winner of the Brenna Hazzard Scholarship this year was-- Ina Woods, a member of the NYC Alumni Chapter. A beautiful note thanking our chapter for the award this year of $4000 was received last month. Ina is originally from Pasadena and is looking forward to joining us when she returns from the Masters program at Manhattan School of Music. Since Brenna’s generous gift was established, this is the first time in our memory that a winner has written to us. Hurrah, Ina!!

My deepest gratitude to all of you who have stood beside, ahead, and behind me in this magical carpet ride of 2007-2008. No one person can ever do the work necessary to float this “battleship”.

The executive board will meet at my home on August 14th at 9:30. The board has an entire year to plan, so please set aside that date. I’ll contact all of you again at a later time.

We need homes for next year, and people willing to help with food when asked. E-mail me if you can volunteer; everyone is important.

Harmonically,

Ginger
