We are thrilled to announce that Deon and Ken Price are happily ensconced in their Rental Home for the next six months and will be hosting our May Meeting. Deon and her New Steinway B will be greeting us:

We will be graced with Deon telling us a bit about her new Steinway B fresh from the factory! Marian Davidson will speak about George Gershwin and perform several of his works on the beautiful new Steinway, and Spaffy Hull will grace the keys with a performance of 4 Noctures by Deon Bottorf.

Luncheon will follow with a selection of salads provided by our own Marilyn Summers and Renee Winkler. Please bring $5.00 for Luncheon donation.

Condolences:
to Deon Nielsen Price and her family on the Passing of her father in april. As many of you know, Deon's dad lived to the wonderful age of one hundred and two. Cards may be sent to Deon at the address above.

Congratulations:
to the LA Alumni Chapter for receiving the Helen Haupt Chapter Grant in the amount of $1,300 for our New York City performance project, "Faces of Eve." At our May 13th meeting, awards will be presented to our participants Berkeley Price, Adrienne Albert, Mary Au (Chair)' Carol Worthey, Lydia Buslar-Blais (new member initiated in New York into our L.A. Alumni Chapter), and Deon Price.

requests that you submit your completed SERV forms (for hours which you volunteered from June, 2009 to June 2010) in the service of music) to her by Email (rrwink@hotmail.com). The deadline is May 20. Please do get them to her by then as they must be submitted in June.

UPcoming Concerts of LA Alumni Members in May:
May 8th: Deon Nielsen Price will have a song cycle performed by CounterTenor Darryl Taylor & Pianist Brent McMunn at University of California at Irvine, Irvine California, sponsored by the National Association of Composer USA, Los Angeles Chapter with additional recitals TBA in the Los Angeles area. The program is being streamed "live" on line at 8:00 PM Pacific Coast Time on May 8, 2010. The url for Darryl Taylor's program is http://cast.nacs.uci.edu/tltc/Webstream/tltcWebstream.html.

May 23rd: Adrienne Albert's newest art song, "The Owl and The Pussycat" (which was premiered by Arietha Lockhart and Mary Au in New York City last month) will be performed by LA Opera mezzo-soprano, Diana Tash and accompanist, Armen Guzelimian at The Foundation in Bel Air at 3 pm. Mark your Calendars:
Thursday, June 10th will be our final meeting of this 2009-2010 season. Our new officers will be initiated at this meeting in the home of Ginger Curea.

Once again, I apologize for the short Newsletter. Last month, my computer crashed. I bought a new computer and that one turned out to be a Lemon. So, hopefully, the third time is the charm. I now have a New New computer and we are just getting to know one another:-).
